The Koala’s Evil Cousins

If you ever visit Australia, you will be warned of this menace.

Australia is a place everyone wants to visit. This continent has animals so incredibly unique they are found nowhere else in the world.

If you believe the social media, their wildlife appears quite willing and capable of killing you.

Australia hosts twenty-one species of the most lethal snakes including the taipan and eastern brown snake–the deadliest known to mankind.

Not counting the vast array of harmful sea creatures, the land harbors dangerous fauna. Bees, wasps, scorpions, Bird eating Tarantula, dingoes, cane toads, monitor lizards, venomous spiders, cassowaries, saltwater crocodiles–all these animals could seriously harm you.

But native Australians seem quite tolerant about the wildlife ranging outside their homes.

Australia boasts many cryptids. Two well-known cryptids: The Bunyip and the Yowie. But they seem to avoid people, and little is known of them.

But a third cryptid will find you. They are the most dangerous because they can be in plain sight and not be recognized. Yes, keep on playing your little innocent act. You and your friends.

Posing as one of the cutest animals alive. These cryptids are the fierce and dreaded Drop Bears. The Thylarctos Plummetus lives in the forested regions of Southern and Eastern Australia.

Posing as innocent koalas they are vicious and quite aggressive. They hide in the trees and will pounce on anyone passing underneath. You will see many signs warning of them.

Look up into the trees and stay watchful. Especially at night.

Drop bears seem more of a threat to tourists. Two most popular answers are they overhear voices and avoid Australian accents. Or they smell Vegemite which is a popular food spread usually on toast or part of a sandwich. You will be advised to put some on the back on your neck to ward off these killers.

Fighting for his life with a drop bear.

This one has captured a person. But the drop bear is small so the man could shake it off and run for safety. Do not be lured in. Even as babies they are killers.

They are rarely photographed in their true form. These might be final photos

This exhibit is a possible drop bear. Or might have been created by someone who never saw a koala or a drop bear.

We had some fun with these photos but are they truly a threat to visitors??

No, they are not. They are Australia’s joke on tourists just as the haggis in Scotland.  Artwork, misinformation and photoshop koalas with fangs have spread the drop bear myth. They are quite convincing. This vid has a reporter fooled into thinking she held a deadly drop bear

The koalas are not totally harmless. They are still wild creatures and have sharp claws. But they are not vicious by nature.
